Obituary

Aaron Demetrius Johnson sprung into this world on the 3rd of January in 1982. Born in Miami, FL, he was greeted by the love of his parents Aaron Johnson and Deadra Solomon Johnson. He was the third eldest of his eight siblings. Though he was not technically the oldest, Demetrius selflessly assumed the role of keeping his siblings together and made it his mission to uphold family, give grace and spread love throughout his life.

Demetrius graduated from Miami Carol City High School where he made the decision to join the armed forces to start his military career. While in the Air Force, he experienced many positions and duties but settled in a career as a Dental Assistant. He traveled the world while in the service, experience places like Japan where he progressed in his career while taking care of his family. After completing his enlistment in Las Vegas, he then returned to the state he loved and began to build a life in Tampa, FL working at the Post Office. This is where his infamous nickname as "The Mailman" developed. He worked for the Post Office for several years before he was medically retired due to all his hard work and dedication.

Instead of kicking up his feet and relaxing after his completion of not one but two government agencies, he went on to focus his sights on creating a life for his five children that he could leave beyond. He not only advised them of their limitless possibilities, Demetrius became the greatest example to what a vision, perseverance, and most importantly God's grace could genuinely award you in this world. Demetrius graduated from Morehouse College this year with honors and a degree in Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. After becoming a Morehouse Man, he began the journey of creating his non-profit organization as well as aligning his family and friends up for success. Demetrius poured into everyone he encountered but mostly his family.

Demetrius enjoyed participating in athletic activities and being competitive, whether on the flag football field, at the bowling alley, or on the basketball court. He also had a passion for traveling to different cities and countries to experience and immerse himself in various cultures. An avid learner, Demetrius was always looking for ways to grow intellectually. He has always been a man of faith, and to deepen his understanding of his beliefs and purpose, he attended Antioch Missionary Baptist Church every Sunday virtually.
