Obituary

On November 16, 1994, a beautiful Wednesday afternoon at Jackson Memorial Hospital, Rodny and Joelle Elibert excitedly welcomed their son, Anthony Rood Joel Elibert, into the world! He was their firstborn and the oldest of two sons born to this union.

Growing up, like most young boys, Anthony loved playing video games, being outside with friends, playing basketball, or just hanging out with his younger brother, Rodney. He grew up in a loving Christian home and was introduced to his faith early on. He and his family attended Notre Dame Catholic Church. His first Communion and Confirmation were at Visitation Catholic Church by Archbishop MRJ Favalora.

Anthony or "Boo Boo", as he was affectionately called, was educated through Miami Dade County Public Schools, attending Phyllis R. Miller Elementary, George Washington Carver Junior High, and Law Enforcement High School. He was an excellent student and excelled greatly in academics. Anthony loved to read, was always recognized on the Honor Roll, and earned the highest scores in the FCAT testing. He loved school so much that he never missed a day of school in 12 years. Anthony was also a musician who played the Bass in the school's band.

After graduation, in 2013, and before heading to college, Anthony entered the workforce working for Publix Supermarket in Skylake Mall. Soon after, he began attending Miami Dade College and later furthered his education at Florida International University, earning a bachelor's degree in Sociology and Anthropology in 2020. Among his greatest academic achievements, Anthony was a Pi Kappa Alpha (PIKE) member, a prestigious fraternity committed to developing men of integrity, intellect, success, and high moral character. Anthony embodied all of these characteristics and so much more.

Professionally, Anthony was a Teacher. He taught special needs children at Selma Olinder Elementary in California, and was a Camp Counselor at Camp Crum and A is for Apple, Incorporated, where he counseled children with Autism and other developmental disabilities. Anthony was a true educator who lived his life with purpose. He often sought ways to be better, both professionally and personally.  In 2024, he received the State of Florida Certification as an Exceptional Educator, qualifying him to teach K-12th-grade students. He truly lived out his famous quote, "Find Your Greatness." He worked every day of his life to do just that!

Today, as we remember Anthony, we remember a smile that could brighten any room, his love for family, traveling, nice cars, biking, fitness, and his love for teaching. Anthony loved fashion and had the best taste in clothes and shoes - let's not forget about his love for trading stocks. There are so many great memories of our beloved Anthony; far too many to mention. These memories will forever linger in the hearts of his family and those who knew him.
