Obituary

Avery Reese was born in Miami-Dade, Florida, on October 9, 1963, to the late Deamus & Emma Reese.

Avery or "Deca" as he was affectionately known, completed his primary and secondary education within the Miami-Dade County Public School System, where he received his High School Diploma at Miami Northwestern Senior High School, Home of the Mighty Bulls, class of 1981.

He furthered his education at Miami Dade College and attended Miami Dade Correctional Academy, where he received his Criminal Justice degree.

It was then, in 1985, that Avery Reese was hired as a Miami-Dade Correctional Officer and throughout his tenure in Corrections, he was promoted to Corporal Avery Reese.

The year 1985 was a very productive year for Avery. It was the year he received his most significant accomplishment and his greatest gift from God: the arrival of his daughter, Precious D. Anderson.

Avery loved Precious; she was his one-in-a-million reason, and his grandkids were a bonus.

Avery was a rock for many and had an open-door policy for family and friends at his home. If you were hungry, he would feed you; if you needed shelter, you could stay. He was genuinely a selfless person.

Avery exemplified Deuteronomy 28:13. "He was the head, not the tail." He didn't say too much but moved like a King.

On January 04, 2024, The Lord called upon Avery Reese to return home and transitioned him to his heavenly dwelling. His daughter Precious Anderson, and brothers Charles Pugh, David Reese, Melvin Reese, and Carey preceded him in death.

Avery leaves behind many cherished memories to his granddaughters Averi & Paige Jones; his sisters, Emma Reese, Patricia, Leatha, Elaine Dezmal, and Phyllis Williams; brothers Ronald Reese, Wayne Reese, Jerry Reese, and Tyrone Taylor; niece, Tilean Reese (whom he helped raise), and Gwendolyn Storman, a sister-friend and confidant. In addition, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.

Avery was more than a father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.

He was that special someone who could never be replaced.

Corporal Avery Reese, we honor you!
