Bruce Selwyn
Malcolm Sr.
Aug 28, 1956 — Jul 25, 2024
Bruce Selwyn Malcolm, Sr., aka String, Brucey, Big Bruce was born on Tuesday August 28th, 1956 to parents Kenneth and Esther Malcolm, he was the fifth of eight children. He was named Bruce after his uncle who died in infancy.During his infancy we lived in Back Salina, Grand Turk, in the Adam's home, one day during his infancy after the tubs had been setup for washing, two donkeys came into the yard and were drinking the water from the tubs when our brother David came from behind and scared the donkeys that had no place to go but inside the house as the door was open, but Bruce was also lying on the floor, the donkey hoof missed his chest by a few inches and grazed his ribs which was sore for months, he almost lost his life that day.In his early years Bruce attended the government elementary on the parade grounds through to the sixth grade. Being one of seven boys, sports was always in the conversation and Bruce developed a love for cricket and basketball and to this day his friend and playing buddy John Glenn (Stickman), Hachell always asks for him when he is coming home. With cricket Bruce was a part of 2 national teams that traveled internationally to Barbados and Jamaica. After school Bruce went to work at the US Naval Base where he worked for many years until the closing of the base, after working at several odd jobs, Bruce decided to move to the United States seeking employment there. After moving to the states, Bruce met and married Lisa Allen on June 20, 1987. Their 37 years of union, blessed with 5 children, was in which one of our sons (Kenneth Alexander Malcolm) preceded Bruce in death. Bruce was a beloved husband, father, grand and great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Bruce had such a special bond with his children and grands that was unbreakable. His children were very protective of their daddy and always had his back, right or wrong. Jr was his banker, Tonia was his overseas operator, Keva was his barber & chef and Elvis was his driver and teacher.Bruce's children had many other tasks that they performed to make sure that their daddy was taken care of. And of course I was the provider and also his headache (LOL). On Thursday July 25, 2024 Bruce left us speechless, shocked and hurt. My Husband left us unexpectedly without any warning signs.
