Clarissa Mackey- Bejerano, affectionately known as "Risa," was born on November 24, 1947, in Harlem, New York, to Marguerite Mackey. Shortly after her birth, Clarissa's family relocated to Miami, Florida, where she grew up and attended Miami-Dade Public Schools graduating from Miami Carol City Senior High graduating in 1967.Clarissa began her professional career as an LPN at Parkway Hospital for 20 years then another 10 years at South Florida state Hospital where she was known for her dedication, strong work ethic, and warm, compassionate nature.Clarissa was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and faithful servant of God living a life full of meaning, purpose, and grace. As the eldest of her siblings, she naturally embraced a maternal role, always offering guidance, wisdom, and unconditional love. She was a pillar of strength for her family, embodying resilience and compassion in equal measure. Her bold personality and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.Clarissa was an active member of Mt. Hermon AME Church in Miami, Florida, for over 60 years, in which she accepted Christ as her Savior at a very young age. She served on Stewardess Board #1, Usher Board #2, and participated on the Hattie Green Women's Missionary Society and the Evelyn Mackey Board for more than 25 years. Clarissa faithfully served until the Lord called her home.Clarissa's love for God was evident in her every action. As a dedicated church worker, she came to services every Sunday while she was able and faithfully watched virtually when she could no longer attend in person. Her contributions and presence made her a cornerstone of her church family, and she will forever be remembered as a pioneer of Mt. Hermon AME Church.Clarissa was preceded in death by her mother Marguerite Mackey, brothers, Alfred, Randy, and Curtis Mackey, sisters, Rose and Roslyn Mackey and Grandmother Evelyn Mackey. She leaves behind a family that she cherished deeply, including her devoted husband, Gilberto "Cookie" Bejerano; her loving children, Lisa Brown (Kay Troy) and Kermit Brown, Jr.; her adoring grandchildren, Kentrivia Hall, Robert Thomas, Sr., Taniquia and Antonio; her treasured great-grandchildren, Keniyah Bryant, Robert Thomas, Jr., Germiah Jones, Syre Brown, SaNyi Brown, Logan Rose, Giovanni Rose, Kahle Rose and Adonis Rose; her sister, Valencia Davis; her nephews, Daniel, Damian, Anthony, and Brian Mackey; her nieces, Cassandra (John) Gilbert, Melissa Mackey, Raquella Davis, and Dominique (Daryl) Dowdell; her special cousin and sister in spirit, Sandra Black; and a host of cousins, great-nieces and nephews, great-grand-nieces and nephews, and other family and friends who will miss her deeply.Clarissa's life was a reflection of God's love and grace. Her enduring faith, compassion, and dedication to her family and church community leave behind a legacy that will be cherished forever."Well done, good and faithful servant.
