Mrs. Collette Corley Barber, born on December 24, 1948, in Miami Florida, was the eldest child of Coleman and Irene Richardson.Collette received her early childhood education at Phyllis Wheatley Elementary and Booker T Washington before graduating from Miami Northwestern Senior High School in 1967.Shortly after graduation, Collette embarked on a new chapter in her life by relocating to Jamaica Queens, New York, where she met Harold Corley and welcomed her two sons, Shawn and Darshea, into the world. Her dedication to her family was matched only by her commitment to her career at Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association of America, from which she retired and returned to Miami, Florida in the summer of 1988.Collette started working for Jackson Health Systems within the Patient Admitting Department. Her exceptional interpersonal skills and dedication to her role earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues, coworkers, and patients alike. Collette possessed a remarkable ability to leave a lasting positive impact on the lives of those she encountered.Collette rekindled her romantic connection with her first and last boyfriend, Albert Barber, whom she affectionately referred to as her true source of happiness. Their marriage in 2004 marked the beginning of a profound and fulfilling partnership, with Albert becoming her closest confidant and pillar of support.Collette's life was a testament to her unwavering faith, which she dedicated to the Lord at an early age and nurtured through her spiritual home at New Jerusalem Primitive Baptist Church.On October 22, 2024, she transitioned to eternal peace, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with her devoted husband: Albert Barber; loving sons: Shawn (Kathy) and Darshea (ShaShauna); step-children: Albert Jr., Tiffany and Nakia; mother: Irene Richardson; aunts: Ruth (Edward) and Virginia; uncle: Conrad (Marva); grandchildren: Micah, Makael, Shayla, Raven, Brian and Jessica; sisters: Hattie Linda, Rose, Paulette and Annie Mae (Albert); brothers: Calvin (Patricia) and Sylvester; extended New York family, in-laws, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.She was preceded in death by her father: Coleman and her two sisters: Patricia and Carol.
