Creswell
Waugh
Feb 21, 1936 — Dec 26, 2024
Creswell Oscar Waugh was born on February 21, 1936, at Jubilee Hospital in Kingston, Jamaica, to the
late Joseph Waugh and V. Olga Gordon. He attended Greenidge Town Primary School and grew up
deeply rooted in his faith and community through the Oliver Brethren Church.
In 1958, Creswell left Jamaica to work on cruise ships, beginning with the Yarmouth Castle. He later
worked on the S.S. Evangeline and the Bahamas Star.
In 1962, he married the love of his life, Pearl Waugh, and together they raised four children: Cheryl
Linda, Kenneth, Michael, and Crestina.
Creswell's career took him from collecting rent in Coconut Grove, where he became affectionately
known as "The Rent Man," to roles at Commodore Plaza and Miami-Dade County Public Schools. He
was a man of many talents, often called a "jack of all trades," and was always willing to lend a helping
hand.
A devout member of Mt. Hermon A.M.E., Creswell was active with the Male Ushers, Pioneers, and
New Members Ministries and took pride in serving his congregation. He was passionate about
nurturing his yard, where he spent countless hours tending to his beloved plants and fruit trees, often
sharing their bounty with family and neighbors.
Creswell was a dedicated family man, known for his morning and evening calls to check in on loved
ones. He cherished his family and friends deeply, leaving a legacy of love, kindness, and selflessness.
Creswell will be remembered as a committed son, devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather,
dedicated family member, loyal friend and neighbor, and faithful servant of God. His warmth,
generosity, and unwavering dedication to his loved ones will be missed but never forgotten.
