David Forbes,
Jr.
Sep 8, 1969 — Aug 27, 2025
King David Forbes Jr, affectionately known as the Bishop and The King that made us laugh, was
born into his royal state as the seventh of ten children to Elder David Forbes Senior and Apostle
Katrine Forbes on September 8th 1969.
Recognized early as a child prodigy, the unique gifts that would mark his destiny were revealed
when young David (then called Doofie) at two years old made a makeshift drum set out of two of
his father's five gallon buckets and amazingly entertained the entire neighborhood with his
spirited playing.
Naturally, God exalted his gift. Doofie soon became a prolific drummer for his church, Now Faith
Ministries where he found faith in Christ as a young boy. He later rose as a leader in music as
Drum Major for the American High School Marching Patriots until his graduation in the class of
1987.
King David served honorably in the United States Army and returned home to be all that he
could be as a husband and father. David adamantly pursued the woman who would become the
only true love of his life, a young career-minded bank teller, Lori Regina Copeland. David was
unyielding in his plans and purpose for Lori, and after many unsuccessful attempts, his flawed
yet persistent plan finally worked.
Seeking a little help from his faithful mother, the legendary Apostle Katrine Forbes, David
eventually won Lori over, and the two married in August 1994.
Their blessed union gave birth to three sons of royal heritage: King David Forbes III, Sir Clinton
S. Forbes, and Master Timothy A. Forbes — named after his own sibling trio/besties, his
brothers Timothy D. Forbes Sr. and Clinton B. Forbes Sr.
The Bishop's life is deeply rooted in service and in family. In the year 2000, David founded
Doofie's Kidz, a foundation for summer youth outreach. Blessed with a heart for his community,
Bishop delivered truckloads of turkeys and entire holiday dinners to inner-city families.
Of great importance to David is his honesty about his past. He was never in denial of his life's
mistakes, and he famously owned the fact that his bad choices led to years of him living in
state-comped room and board, but God gave him phenomenal bounce-back ability!
David was blessed with the confidence of a king. He lived like a king, walked and talked like a
king, and whatever he decreed came to pass, including his successful career in Real Estate Investing!
Nothing was ever too big for him, and money was never an obstacle for him; only a small challenge that he saw as "TOO EASY"!
The Bishop was known to be the life of the party, to have never met a stranger, to be the most
loyal of friends, a pushover to nieces, nephews, and grandkids, and to have found humor in
EVERYTHING, absolutely no one was exempt from his comedic attack! Your clothes better be
right, your hair better be tight because everybody knew you would be Doofie's target that night!
All hail to the people's king who made us all laugh! King David Forbes Jr. - The Bishop, leaves
