Obituary

On August 24, 1959, in the humble community of Batolas/Pointhill, St. Catherine Jamaica, Deloris Evadney Pratt was born to loving parents Albert and Naomi Pratt. As the 5th child in their family, she was a light that would shine brightly in the lives of all who knew her. Deloris, affectionately called Mommy, Del-Roses, Del, Lilieth, Nurse and Auntie was a woman of grace, strength, and boundless love.On October 20, 1984, she embarked on a beautiful journey of 41 years as she married the love of her life Keith Brown. She embodied the virtues of a Proverb 31 wife-faithful, hardworking and devoted. Together, they built a family filled with love, raising wonderful children and embracing life with open hearts. Her love only grew as she became the proud grandmother, each one a treasured gift.Deloris dedicated her life to caring for others as a community health aide nurse at Spanish Town Hospital for 23 years. Her passion for educating and encouraging breastfeeding mothers was more than a job, it was her "calling". Though she once dreamed of being a teacher, this career allowed her to fulfill that dream, touching countless lives with her wisdom and compassion.Faith was the foundation of her life. It strengthened her, guided her, and gave her purpose. Whether in Jamaica or here in the states, church remained her refuge, and worship was her joy. She found peace in reading, comfort in prayer, and fulfillment in giving, she gave everything, expecting nothing in return.Beyond her faith and career, Deloris was a woman of simple joys. She loved Lifetime movies, cherished music, and found endless pleasure in cooking. Her kitchen was a place of warmth and love, where the aromas of her delicious dishes lingered, and the sound of laughter echoed. She also found great satisfaction in keeping a tidy and welcoming home, creating a haven of peace and comfort for all who entered. Game shows were her guilty pleasure, but nothing compared to the joy she found in her family. Family meant everything to her.She was a woman who lived to serve, love, and uplift those around her. Her kindness knew no bounds, and her strength carried many through their darkest days. She went out of her way to make others happy, always putting their needs before her own. To be loved by Deloris was to know true, unconditional love.On January 11, 2025, the Lord had need of her and called her home. Her legacy of  faith, love, strength and selflessness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.Though she is no longer with us, her light will never fade. We will honor her by living as she did with kindness, strength, and a heart full of love. She leaves behind a legacy of devotion, hard work, and a heart filled with love that touched so many.Deloris was survived by her beloved husband Keith, children Idara and Stanton Harris; grandchildren – Nicholas, Daeja, Jaeda and Tianna Harris; sons Damion and Geron; siblings Kathleen, Winston, Owen, Princess, Sheron, Marie, Ewan and Collette. Siblings by love -Dorris, Glenford, Asley and Moureen. Family of the Heart - Novene and husband Sebastian, and grandchildren Hakeem, Jaedan and Sevene. Chosen sister Linda and the entire Forrest family; an aunt, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of family, friends, and loved ones who will forever hold her memory dear.Rest peacefully, our beloved Del-Roses.
