Obituary

Dora Mae Waggoner was born on March 27, 1937, to the late Virginia and Ralph Knight in Palatka, Florida. She was the second oldest of three children born to this union.

Dora Mae received her education through the Miami-Dade County School System, and graduated from Dorsey High School. Soon after high school, Dora Mae entered the workforce. Always smart and hardworking, Dora Mae began a thriving career working as a Receptionist with two local hospitals, North Miami General Hospital and Parkway Hospital. After many dedicated years of service, she retired.

Dora Mae was a member of Mt Tabor Missionary Baptist Church, then under the leadership of Dr. George E. McRae.

Over her lifetime, Dora Mae had many wonderful experiences, but none were greater than in 1957, when she had her first child and the three to follow. She was blessed with four handsome sons Stanford, Calvin, Mark and Vincent, and they were her greatest joy! Her grandchildren were an extra bonus and meant the world to her.  Dora Mae was a great mother and grandmother. She was stern; said what she meant and meant what she said; yet she loved everyone in her own special way.

Dora Mae lived a life that was full of joy and laughter. She strived daily to do all the things she knew were good for her and her family. As we remember her today, we remember her laughter, her wittiness and straight-forward personality.  There are so many good memories of our beloved Dora Mae Waggoner, far too many to mention. We will smile at every remembrance of her, the lessons she gave and the memories we made.

On March 6, 2024, Dora Mae Waggoner departed this life. She was preceded in death by her son Stanford Knight, parents Virginia Knight and Ralph Knight and brother Henry Knight.

She leaves behind a legacy of love to her children: Calvin Love, Mark Knight, and Vincent (Selena) Waggoner; brother Milton Knight; eleven grandchildren: Shakira (Samuel) Lightbourne, Stanchelle Knight, Stantrell (Cederic) Brown, Stanford Knight, Jr., Victoria Meda, Vincent Waggoner, Vince Waggoner, Korian Blake, Standrea Knight, Stanford Knight, III, and Angela Knight; niece: Laquan Thomas and a host of other relatives and loving friends.
