Obituary

Dorothy Jean Grider Wright, "Ms. Dot", was born on November 14, 1940, in Pike County Alabama. Ms. Dot was the fourth child of eleven siblings born to the late J.P. and Mildred Grider. As a young woman, she relocated to Miami in the early 60's. She worked various jobs before finding her true passion of caring for others. For many years, Dorothy worked as a Private Duty Nurse in several local hospitals and private families. When she was not working, Dorothy enjoyed cooking, sewing and learning a new hobby. Sunday dinners and holidays were always celebrated at her home. She would cook everything from the main dish to dessert. Dorothy had an eye for fashion. Over the years, she would make various outfits for herself and children, stitching and hemming as needed. Dorothy had no limitations; she took up a hobby in upholstery, which enabled her to make the old new again, a skilled she enjoyed. When it comes to her family, Dorothy was a lioness. No matter the challenges or difficulties she was the family shield. She protected her family with everything she had often sacrificing her own needs to make them feel safe, secure and loved. Dorothy was a lifelong member of Brownsville Baptist Church until her health begin to decline. She served in numerous auxiliaries over those years. On Friday, September 13, 2024, God picked the brightest flower from his garden.
