Obituary

The stage of life was set in Charleston, South Carolina, on May 10, 1946, when Elizabeth Washington, affectionately known as "Liz," was the fifth child born to the union of the late Issac Washington and Marie Magwood-Washington.

Mr. Issac and Mrs. Marie Washington migrated from Charleston, South Carolina to Miami in search of economic opportunities for their family, which led Elizabeth to having a resilient work ethic.  As a child, "Liz" and her siblings would wake up at 4:00 am in the morning and clean "Palm Drive-In Theater" in Liberty City prior to going to school.  Her work ethic also transcended into her academic accomplishments.

Elizabeth Washington-Wells graduated from Miami Northwestern Senior High School in 1964.  She was a proud "Bull" who enjoyed watching the Miami Northwestern's Football Team win state championships!  She furthered her education and graduated from Barry University College of Arts and Sciences, where she received a bachelor's degree in computer information science in 1988.  Elizabeth's passion for serving humanity and exploring computer software developments led her to various successful entrepreneurships.

Elizabeth was an independent, reserved, and private person who loved her family.  She gave birth to a beautiful bouncing boy named Elton Earl in 1966.  After she completed her academic career, she met and married the love of her life, Mr. Ellis Wells.

"Liz" cherished the idea of sharing her knowledge of business ownership with others.  Therefore, she had an extensive career with the Miami-Dade Public School System.  She worked at Miami Lakes Educational Center and Technical College.  Elizabeth received various accolades for her superb teaching abilities prior to retiring from the Miami-Dade Public School System.  After her retirement, Elizabeth was truly able to focus on her personal businesses from the comfort of her home.  Throughout her entrepreneurship endeavors, she was able to continue to educate herself by completing digital marketing and financial planning workshops that helped her gain new, innovative knowledge for her craft.

Elizabeth's entrepreneurship abilities also led her to become an independently licensed Travel Agent.  She had a passion for planning events, making travel arrangements, and organizing package promotions for friends, family, and classmates.  Elizabeth's desire to help others also led to her political aspirations.  Ms. Washington-Wells was a community activist.  She served on the District 3 Park and Recreation Advisory Board for the City of Miami Gardens, and she was a faithful advocate for the elderly in the community.  She would consistently appear at the Miami Gardens Council Meetings and boisterously champion activities that would support the lives of seniors in the community.

Although Elizabeth was an ambitious entrepreneur, she was also an adventure seeker.  In addition to building her small businesses, she took the time to travel the world.  She traveled to Nassau, Bahamas, Kingston, Jamaica, Japan, Hong Kong, and various countries in Europe.  As she explored diverse cultures and collected artifacts and souvenirs, these treasures would later become heart-filled mementos that Elizabeth would grow to cherish as precious memories of her extended and fulfilled life.  Most importantly, her greatest achievement in life was her relationship with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

On February 10, 2025, our Heavenly Father, in His own way, and according to His own purpose, summoned Elizabeth Washington-Wells to her eternal home.
