Obituary

Euphemia Belle Wilson was born on August 22, 1937, on the beautiful island of Eleuthera, Bahamas, surrounded by clear blue Bahamian waters. Her parents, Cyril and Emma Belle raised her and her siblings in a loving and Christian household.

Euphemia learned at an early age the importance of being compassionate, honest, and hard-working.  She received her formal schooling from the Bahamian Educational Degree of the Bahamas in culinary and cooking and as a young woman she worked as a Chef in several well-known resorts such as Montego Bay Beach Hotel and Resorts and the Paradise Resort and Casino, now known as the Atlantis Hotel in the Bahamas.  Over the years, Euphemia mastered her cooking skills and became famous for her Crab and Rice, Guava Duff, and other delicious Bahamian Dishes.

While in the Bahamas, prior to relocating to the United States, Euphemia met her husband, Mark Anthony Wilson. The couple married and enjoyed a wonderful life together raising a blended family of her six children and their three. After many years together, Mark passed away and Euphemia continued to raise their children with the solid morals and values her parents gave her.

Later in life, Euphemia fell in love again when she met Charles Brooks. The couple were inseparable. Whether it was watching television, talking about politics, or planting a garden – they just enjoyed their time together.

In the late 1960s, Euphemia migrated to the United States. Prior to entering the workforce, she sought certification as a Nursing Assistant and quickly earned a position as a Certified Pediatric Nursing Assistant for Jackson Memorial Hospital. She worked for Jackson from 1979 until 2004, when she retired. Euphemia was well-loved at the hospital. She was so loved that she earned the nickname "Ma Belle" for her special motherly care she displayed for the newborns in the unit.

Today, as we remember Euphemia, we remember a loving, nurturing woman who loved God, her family and those around her. She was hardworking and dedicated to raising her children. Losing her is a tremendous loss to our family; but we will cherish every memory we made and the love she gave. Rest Well Mother!
