Frances
Tyler-Conyers
Nov 7, 1944 — May 9, 2024
Frances Tyler Conyers was the fifth child and only daughter of the late Booker T. and Lurline Tyler. She was born on November 7th, 1944, in Orangeburg, SC. She and her family moved to Miami. Florida in 1952. Shortly thereafter, Frances was sent to Baltimore, MD, to live with two aunts, where she attended elementary school. After becoming homesick she returned to Miami and attended Dorsey Middle School then went on to graduate from Miami Northwestern Senior High School in 1964.
Frances married her high school sweetheart, Horacio Evans, shortly after graduation. After the end of that union, she met Jerome Rowe and had her only child. Later in life, she met and married her soulmate, Lee Conyers. The couple shared a wonderful life together, until his passing. Frances began her illustrious career at Jackson Memorial Hospital in 1969 as a Nurse's Aide, eventually working her way up to becoming a Dietician, and then a Supervisor in her department until she retired in 2002.
During her tenure at Jackson Hospital, she became affectionately known as Sugar Foot, because if she liked you that's what she would call you. However, if she didn't like you, she had a mouth like a sailor and spoke her mind. But she had a heart of gold and was very loving and giving. On May 9, 2024, Frances quietly slipped away to join her parents Booker T. and Lurline Tyler and brothers: Elijah, Tommie, and John Tyler.
