Gary Wayne Lenard was born November 6, 1957, in Miami, Florida to Annie Mae Gladney and Carl Wayne Lenard. He was the middle child of three siblings. Gary was a fun, kind and charismatic child, and as a teen he was a fierce athlete and a beloved member of the Florida Gators football family.
Gary Lenard, a three-year Letterman and Starting Guard for the University of Florida in 1977-1978, hailed from Miami. Notably, he achieved the remarkable feat of being the only freshman to play and letter for Florida in 1975, showcasing his exceptional talent and dedication to the sport.
On the field, Gary was known for his intensity, quickness, and toughness. A true team player, he approached the game with a ferocity that inspired those around him. Off the field, he was a sweetheart, demonstrating kindness and warmth to all who crossed his path.
Gary faced personal challenges in his later years, health wise. Despite these hardships, he worked as a Barber for many years and continued to reside in Miami, displaying resilience and strength in the face of adversity. His journey serves as a testament to his courage and determination.
Gary Wayne Lenard departed this life on December 13, 2023. His parents: Annie Mae Gladney and Carl Wayne Lenard and sisters Debra Gail Lenard and Carliss Ann Lenard preceded him in death.
He is survived by nieces: Twala Lenard (Lawrence Craig), Carlandra Reid (Samuel Reid) and Samayia Reid; nephews: Marcus Lenard (Leah Lenard), Deshan Craig, Keishon Craig, Samuel M. Reid and Marquis Lenard; brother, Darrell Lenard and friends "Bo" Smith, Michael Dupree, and James Harrell "Head" and a host of other relatives and friends.
