Henry Lee "John" Thomas, affectionately known by family as "Bay Bruh" and by friends as "JT," passed away peacefully on June 5, 2026, at the age of 80, after a brief illness. Born on February 27, 1946, to Henry Charles Thomas and Lillie Bell Taylor, John grew up in Newton, Georgia, and attended school in the Baker County public school system.

As a boy, John was raised by his loving grandmother, Gussie Taylor, who taught him to love God and value family. He also shared a deep, lifelong bond with his special aunt, Mary Ann Taylor, a close relationship he cherished until his passing.

As a young man, John moved to Miami, Florida, where his life and career truly took root. He was a gifted chef, spending many years cooking at the famous Jumbo's restaurant in Miami, where he took great pride in his work and fed the community with love.

John was a dedicated family man who worked hard to provide for his children. He loved spending time with his boys as they grew up, teaching them the value of an honest day's work & building many special memories.

Faith was important to him and his family, and they attended New Life Ministries together, growing under the leadership and spiritual guidance of the late Bishop Glenn Forshee, Sr.

Later in life, John found joy in becoming a grandfather. He shared a uniquely close and special connection with his oldest granddaughter, who held a very warm place in his heart.

John leaves behind his children, siblings, granddaughter, and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends who will miss him deeply.
