MIAMI
In Loving Memory of James Baldwin
James Baldwin was born on September 20, 1950, in Vienna, Georgia, to the late Pearlie Mae Baldwin and Miles Baldwin.
He was educated in Miami-Dade County Public Schools, attending Floral Heights, Brownsville Junior High School, and Job Corps. James was a lifelong learner who enjoyed sharing his knowledge with others, particularly in the area of financial literacy. He found great joy in music and could often be found playing his saxophones and harmonicas.
Throughout his life, James worked in several trades, including as a bail bondsman, electrician, and carpenter. He began his public service career as a firefighter with the City of Miami. Later, he joined Metro-Dade Transit as a stock clerk, where he faithfully served for 30 years before retiring.
James was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories to be carried on by his beloved wife of 57 years, Laverne Baldwin of Sebring, Florida; his daughters, Alisha Baldwin-Bouie (Andre) of Plant City, Florida, and Mary Victoria Marie Louis of Sebring, Florida; his grandsons, Jared Baldwin-Brown (Maliek) of Tampa, Florida, and Jesus Bouie of Plant City, Florida, and his great-granddaughter, Jacquelyn Baldwin-Brown of Tampa, Florida.
He is also survived by his sisters, Verdine Baldwin, Willie Mae Mills (Romas), Ida Mae Shavers (George), and Flora Mae Baldwin, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
James will be remembered for his wisdom, generosity, dedication to his family, and the positive impact he made on the lives of those around him. His legacy of hard work, service, and love will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Forever loved, forever remembered.
