James
Tyler
Dec 8, 1956 — Nov 28, 2024
James Franklin Tyler, also known as "Tank", was born on December 8, 1956, to James Tyler and Alberta Kirby Tyler. He received his education through Miami Dade Public Schools, graduating from Miami Jackson Sr. High School in 1975, where he played football. After high school and desiring to serve his country, James enlisted in the United States Army, where he proudly served from 1977-1980. He worked as an Artillery and Missile specialist.James was a good Christian man who loved his family more than they could imagine. He was honorable, respectful, and of good character; always taking advantage of an opportunity to help someone. As we remember James today, we remember a man who loved God and his family. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, teaching them to recite scripture, especially Isaiah 1:19 and Luke 2:52. He didn't require much. He enjoyed the simple things of life, like being at home, sitting in his chair, and watching a Dallas Cowboys football game. It didn't matter whether they won or not, he was a true Cowboys fan! James was also a man of his word, if he said he would do something, you could count on him to do it. James looked out for family and friends and was content when knowing that everyone was doing okay. He truly will be missed. On November 28, 2024, James Franklin Tyler departed this life. He was preceded in death by his parents James Tyler and Alberta Kirby Tyler, sister Betty Jean Preston; brothers-in-law Leroy Preston and Clifton Payne. He leaves to cherish his loving memories to a loving wife of 38 years, Gloria; two children Tonja (Paul) David (Nikole); seven grandchildren: Geneesah, Alysha, David, Ronald, Taleah, Amare, and Jesean; one great grandson, Amiri; one brother, Albert (Patricia) Lundy, Sr of Thomasville, GA; two sisters Mattie Payne of Miami, FL, and Patricia (Larry Sr) Killins of Daytona Beach, FL; longtime Army friend David (Natalie) Stewart, lifelong friend Carl (Olga) Jackson and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
