Jeanette Ardrey
Sarratt
Apr 4, 1953 — Jan 7, 2025
Jeanette Ardrey Sarratt was born on April 4, 1953, in Miami, Florida to Gennie Gist Green (deceased)
and Robert Ardrey (deceased). Shortly after Jeanette's birth, Jeanette was raised in the loving home of
her grandparents, James, and Queen Sarratt.
While living in the Lincoln Fields Apartment community, Jeanette received her early education at
Poinciana Park Elementary School and Charles Drew, Middle School. For her high school years, she
attended Miami Jackson Senior High School, graduating in 1971. During this time Jeanette's love for
hair, and all things involving beauty grew. She enrolled in Cosmetology classes, where she explored a
career in cosmetology. Her plans shifted when she gave birth to her only child, a son, Joseph Robinson,
Jr. This shift led her to Miami-Dade Community College, North Campus, where she subsequently
obtained an Associates of Arts Degree.
Following in the footsteps of her mother and grandmother, Jeanette spent her career helping and
serving others. Jeanette worked in the Healthcare Sector in various service-oriented roles such as
Certified Nurse's Aide, Admissions, Registration and Insurance Clerk, Insurance Representative,
Patient Representative and Advocate, and Insurance Manager. She was employed at various hospitals
in Miami-Dade and Broward counties, including North Miami General Hospital (currently Parkway
Regional Medical Center), Cedars Hospital (currently University of Miami Hospital), and Westside
Regional Center. She retired as a Patient Advocate after working in the healthcare system for thirty
(30) years of continuous service.
Jeanette accepted Christ at an early age and for several years held Church membership at Mount
Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, Miami, Florida. She sang in the youth choir at Antioch Baptist
Church of Liberty City. In addition to singing, Jeanette liked to dance and have a good time. She was
known for having great parties, bringing people together for laughs, dancing, and an overall good time.
Jeanette was a lover of life, which was displayed in her interactions with everyone she met. She was a
great friend, with her friendships spanning over forty (40) years. Jeanette was affectionately known as a
fashionista, always dressed in fashionable outfits, hair, or wig intact, nails manicured, and with her
signature red lipstick. Even during her last days of convalescing, you could find Jeanette dressed in
fashionable loungewear, with coordinating shoes, and hair. This part of her fashionable style will live
on in her son, grandson, granddaughter, great-grandson, and nieces.
