Jerry Jerome
Mcclendon
May 22, 1957 — Jan 29, 2025
God gifted the proud parents of Mr. Grady Sr. and Rita Mae McLendon on May 22, 1957 with a beautiful bouncing baby boy named Jerry Jerome McLendon. All the Heavens were rejoicing.
Jerry received his education through the Miami-Dade County Public School system. He graduated from Hialeah Miami Lakes Senior High on June 11, 1976. Jerry was a very talented individual who received a four year, all-expense paid football scholarship from South Carolina University. At the same time, Jerry was a member of a musical band. So, at the request of his father, who was the manager, Jerry decided to remain on his musical path as the drummer for the "Choice of Colors Band."Just at the very brink of completing an album, one of the band members joined the Army, which breached the contract, and the band was dissolved.
In the pursuit of happiness, Jerry met and married Glascent Rachel Gohagen on August 20th, 1982. From that union, the ecstatic couple was blessed with the bundle of joy baby girl named Shakira. She was Jerry's pride and joy. Jerry loved Shakira immensely. He told Shakira he would always be there for her and if he could not, his immediate family would stand in the gap for him. Shakira added to Jerry's joy of having a daughter, with an addition of grand twins, a boy and girl named Samir and Skylar. Jerry loved the twins just as much, with Samir being a spitting image of his grandfather. Last but not least, Jerry was over the moon with the harmonious news of Shakira's wedding engagement this past Thanksgiving to Mr. Brandon Brown.
On Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at 2:00 PM, Jerry transitioned in his sleep from life here on Earth to life more abundantly in Heaven. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Grady Sr. and Rita Mae McLendon, brothers Willie and Terry McLendon. He is survived by his loving and passionate daughter Shakira (Brandon), two grandchildren, Samir and Skylar; brothers: Grady Jr., Michael, and Johnny; sisters: Rose and Talicia, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
