Joaquin Mayo
Gonzalez
Aug 16, 1954 — Mar 7, 2025
A devoted father, a caring husband, a doting grandfather, and a remarkable friend.
A Time to Be Born
Joaquin Mayol Gonzalez was born on August 16, 1954, in Batabanó, Cuba. He was the youngest child of his late parents, Altagracia Gonzalez and Pedro Mayol. Guided by the encouragement of his mother, Joaquin made the courageous decision to migrate to the United States in pursuit of a better life—one where he could build a bright future for his cherished daughter, Regla de la Caridad Mayol.
A Time to Learn
Upon arriving in the U.S., Joaquin found joy in his work, beginning his career as a chef at the Hilton before later transitioning to Budget, where he eventually retired. Beyond his professional journey, facilitated foster care services and dedicated time to volunteering with Habitat for Humanity in Cutler Bay, always seeking ways to help those in need. He also continued his education at a community college, always striving to learn and grow.
A Time to Rejoice
Joaquin gave his life to the lord at a young age and he lived a Christian life.
A Time to Love
In 1985, fate brought Joaquin together with the love of his life, Evelyn, through his dear Aunt and Uncle Emma and Gilberto "Jemaeua". Their love blossomed over 40 wonderful years, filled with adventure, laughter, and the simple joys of life. Together, they traveled, created cherished memories, and found immense happiness in the love of their grandchildren. On January 1, 1997, Joaquin welcomed his beloved granddaughter, Seigris Barbara Duarte Mayol, into the world—a moment that brought him immeasurable joy.
A Time to Remember
Today, as we think of Joaquin, we remember a generous man who put his family first! Family was indeed a priority for Joaquin and he enjoyed attending family gatherings. Joaquin had a great sense of humor and loved to make everyone laugh. He also loved sports, especially the Miami Marlins, soccer, fishing and relaxing. He will be greatly missed, but remembered for all the good memories we made and the laughs we shared.
A Time to Mourn
Joaquin leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
