John Henry Stephens, Jr., was born to the parents of John Harry Stephens, Sr and Bernice Blue Stephens in Miami, Florida on December 18, 1957. He was the eldest son of three: Michelle, Andre and Shawn Stephens.John, a graduate of Miami Central Senior High School and later a student of Miami-Dade Community College, where he was recognized and awarded for his excellence in Student Academic Achievement. It was while attending Miami-Dade College he met his lifelong partner and wife, Patricia Ann Jackson. John and Patricia married on November 14, 1981. During their 43-year union, they produced two children, Jacqueline Michelle Stephens and Nicole Jeannette Stephens. John was a proud father.Throughout his life, he felt the call to serve others and provide for his family first and foremost. He obtained the credentials and licensure to work in the field of safety and protection of the community which provided for his family. He worked for the University of Miami Safety and Security Department for over 10 years. In his later years, he left the University of Miami's organization and became a safety and security officer to Opus and Allied Universal for a more flexible schedule in order to focus on home improvement and to spend more time accomplishing personal and financial goals.On November 18, 2024, John went home to his final resting place to be with the Lord. His brother-in-law Jerome Jackson preceded him in death.Left to carry on his legacy and cherished memories are his wife, Patricia Ann Jackson Stephens; two children, Jacqueline Michelle Stephens and Nicole Jeannette Stephens; three siblings, Michelle Hunter Stephens, Andre Stephens, and Shawn Stephens; three sisters-in-law: Edna Calhoun Jackson, Joann Young Jackson, and Darlisa Stephens; two brothers-in-law, Leon Young and John K. Jackson; two nieces: Shannon Young and Jazmine Stephens; four nephews: Mario Cromartie, Shawn Stephens, Jr., Eugene and Kareem Hunter, and a host of cousins, friends, neighbors, and associates.
