Obituary

Juanita Goff Chambers was born in Sweetville, Louisiana on June 6, 1922 to Queenie Odom-Goff & James Goff (both deceased). She was the last of 9 siblings and was raised in the Pritchard, Alabama area. She attended Ella Grant Elementary and Mattie T. Blunt High school in Mobile, Alabama until 10th grade, but she had to leave in order to work as times were rough and funds were scarce. She faced many obstacles while living and trying to survive the Jim Crow-entrenched South. She was married in Tallahassee, Fl to Army Corporal Richard Chambers on August 5, 1945. By the 1950's, she settled as a newly-detached young woman in Miami, Fl where her search for truth led her initially to the Brownsville-area. It was here that she was baptized in the early 50's into the SDA church after a series of tent efforts by the great Pastor Rock. Her siblings who remained in the Alabama area were Herbert Goff, Paul Goff, Walter Lee Odom, Atline Goff, all of which predeceased her. Several other siblings died in infancy. Juanita worked in domestic services well into her 90's working for the 1st Chinese food restaurant ever located in Miami, Fl. She was employed with the Eng family for more than 50 years. She also worked with the Isaacs family of Miami Beach who ran a very profitable laundry and linen business. From the 70's through the 90's she was also employed with the Gillen family of Coral Gables. She impacted the lives of those she worked for and their children positively, always sharing her faith and her Father.

In 1970, fate would have it that she was blessed with 3 wonderful additions to her immediate family.  Willodeen, Donna(deceased 1984), and then-infant, Kim.  They completed her life and made her feel whole. She was able to witness a plethora of momentous milestones through these children and their children.  She made it her life's mission to teach them about the love of God and how blood makes us related, but love makes us family.  She was so proud of her great-granddaughter, Khambrel, and made it known to everyone she met. As one of the pioneers of the merge between Trinity Temple and Berean SDA Churches, she became one of the founding members of Northside SDA Church located in Miami, FL. She has held many offices ranging from head deaconess, King's Daughter,  to usher and anything/everything in between. She was known for transporting many churchgoers to and from church services weekly (while working 2 jobs 6 days/week) until she became too aged to drive only when she had exceeded the age of 90!  Two years ago she celebrated achieving a century of life and even until her final days, she continued to reach out to others, inviting them to church, or just checking up on those she hasn't seen in a while. She enjoyed uplifting others, sharing not only her meager means but also sharing the love of God and her faith in Jesus. On Saturday, the Sabbath, September 28, 2024 at 2pm, Juanita's Heavenly Father called her to earthly rest
