Larry E. Matthews was born to the late Rose Head Stinson in Miami, FL. He was also preceded in death by his loving grandparents who raised him, James and Louise Matthews "MeMe and Papa", and his sister, Yvette Lane. Larry was the eldest of four siblings. He received his education in the Miami-Dade County Public School system, receiving his High School Diploma from Miami Norland Sr. High School in 1976.After graduating high school, Larry began his career at Winn-Dixie Warehouse as a Selector and then became the Selector Supervisor. Larry married his high school sweetheart Cecilia, and out of their union, two daughters were born (LaTanya & Tawanda). After many years in Miami, Larry decided to go on a different pathway and moved to Americus, Georgia, with his wife, Diane Matthews. After moving to Americus, Georgia, Larry found employment at Rainbow Fertilizer, where he was a Scale Operator. Larry retired from Rainbow Fertilizer in 2022. After many years in Americus, Georgia he met his dear friend Shirley Greene Johnson, they shared many memories and fun times together.Larry dreamed of owning his own painting and cleaning company and God answered his prayer. God gave Larry the skills and knowledge to become a successful entrepreneur/owner of Quality Painting & Cleaning, a well-known business throughout the Americus, Georgia area and surrounding cities, with several contracts from local businesses.Larry accepted Christ at an early age. He was a member of Greater New Bethel Baptist Church in Miami Gardens, Florida, until he moved his membership to Americus Holiness Deliverance Temple, where he served as a Deacon until his death.Larry was loved by so many people. He enjoyed spending time with his daughters and grandkids. He found a new love for vacationing through cruising which was introduced to him by his daughters, and he could not stop talking about it. Every person he knew, he would tell them about the cruises he took with his family.Larry E. Matthews leaves behind to mourn his passing, two daughters, LaTanya (Damian) Heidelburg and Tawanda (Miguel) Sanon; Aunt, Mary (Alexander) Hill; Sister, Helena Hill; Brothers, Terry (Valerie) Wiggins and Kenneth Wiggins (Anissa); Grandchildren: Swazye Sanon, Damian Heidelburg Jr., Arcadia Heidelburg, Samora Sanon, and Matthew Heidelburg; Nieces: Tranecia Moore, Angelica Hill, Brianna Martin, Janecia Wiggins, and Majesty Wiggins; Nephews: Terrel Cheever, Timothy Hill, Isaac Wiggins, and Kahleeb Wiggins; First Cousins, Carmela Tookes and Pamela Thomas and a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends.
