Obituary

Mackie Bell was born on November 18, 1933, in Preston, Georgia to John and Cleola Mae Billington. She was one of seven children.

Mackie grew up in Georgia where she received her formal education, but the true lessons of life were taught in the home. At an early age, Mackie learned how to care for the home, be responsible, and the importance of family.

In the late 1940s, at the birth of her first child, Mackie earned the greatest title she would ever know – the title of "Mother."  After her firstborn, Mackie welcomed three more beautiful children. She was a good mother who did and gave her very best.

Years later, Mackie met and married Arthur White in Georgia. The couple relocated their family to Miami, Florida, where they made their home for many years. To this union, ten more children were born. Mackie was a blessed woman, and she loved her family very much.

In the 1970s, in search of better opportunities, Mackie relocated to Connecticut where she worked at Ramada Inn Hotel in East Hartford, Connecticut. She was recognized several times for Exceptional Work Performance and as Associate of the Month. Ramada Incorporated honored Mackie for "contributing significantly to providing superior service and gracious hospitality for the guests." She was a valued and dedicated employee for many years and retired in 1999.

On March 15, 2025, in the loving care of the Parkway Care Center, Mackie Bell White departed this life.
