A Time to Be Born
Brother Marion P. Brookins was born on December 29, 1935, in Perry, Georgia to the late James Lee Brookins and Johnny Mae Wilcox Brookins of Hawkinsville, Georgia. He was the sixth child of 13 children born to that union.
A Time to Be Born Again
Marion, affectionately known as "Uncle Ped" or "Chicken Man," was a faithful servant at New Providence Missionary Baptist Church, under the past leadership of Reverend Walthour. He played a great part singing with his unique voice in the male chorus. He also served faithfully as a part of the Church Security Watchman.
A Time to Educate and Labor
Uncle Ped enjoyed shooting pool, participating in pool tournaments and being with his family. At an early age, Marion's family moved from Georgia to Miami, Florida where he received his education, to include attending Booker T Washington High School.
Professionally, Marion served as an employee for the Kentucky Fried Chicken Foundation (KFC)for many years. He retired after 34 years of continuous dedicated hard work. Marion was also employed at Miami International Airport. He believed in being a dedicated and hard worker.
On February 28, 2024, Marion P. Brookins departed this life. He was preceded in death by his parents James Lee Brookins and Johnny Mae Wilcox Brookins of Hawkinsville, Georgia, sister, Cora Mack, seven brothers: Macco, Matthew, James, William, Ollie, Louis. and Willie C. Brookins.
He leaves behind to mourn his passing and celebrate his life: three sisters. Nina Lee (James) of New York City, Mary Gore and Sarah Jones, both of Miami, FL., one brother, Billy Sylvester Brookins (Jeanette) of Miami, FL., a special niece, Wanda Mack Williams, nephew Alfred Lee Mack, special friend, Willie McLeod, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
