Myrna Ingrid Beresford, known to most as "Pinky" was born on March 26, 1948, in Georgetown, then British Guiana, to Vibert and Elaine Carter. She was the third of eleven children. Pinky as she was fondly called updated us only a few days before her passing on how she got the name "Pinky" she said she was of pink complexion as some babies are and one day her mom dressed her up in a pink dress, pink hat, pink socks and shoes and a pink hat; and someone decided she looked like "PINKY" … In her formative years she attended St Angela's RC School and The Freeburg Primary, she then went on to attend The Critchlow Labor College where she gained a Certificate in Clerical Office Procedures. In later years, Pinky gained employment at 'The Demerara Tobacco Company" she was employed there until she emigrated to the United States. She was also a member of the Georgetown Toastmasters Club. She was very much into Community Service growing up, she served as a Girl Guide, Sea Ranger, and Scout Mistress. She was very athletic and an avid runner, which she passed on to her offspring. In 1965 Pinky met Paul Beresford and after a six-year courtship they got married on September 25, 1971. This union bore four Children.Upon arriving in Miami on June 27, 1986, Pinky attended The Lindsey Hopkins Technical College where upon graduating she secured employment at The Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine. She was employed there for twenty-four and a half years until her retirement. After retirement she worked as a home health aide to the elderly, a position she loved.Pinky was an avid traveler; always going on vacation to her home country and visiting London and some Caribbean islands from time to time. She was a Loving, Jovial and Kind-hearted person. who was Proper to a "fault," and she would be the one to give you "The Eye" if you got out of line.Pinky was predeceased in death by her parents, her twin siblings, granddaughter Janiya, and nephew Sean. She leaves to mourn: her husband, Paul. Children, Dionne (Musa/Banda), Bekim (Deena-Marie) Johaun (Celicia) and Melissa (Chad). Her grandchildren: Thaniel, Taquisha, Trevor Jr., Keyera, Adrienne, Chanel, Cache, Johaun Jr., Nijah, Bekim Jr., Jazmine, Jada, Chasity, Janae, Chad Jr., Amira, and Isaac. Great grandchildren: Ayden, Summer, Autumn, Trinity, Rajeiro and Zyair. Siblings: Patricia, Jeanette, Jacqueline, Orin, Colleen, Vibert, Dawn and Ernestine. Nieces and Nephews: Kesha, Vanessa Tamika, Mark, Ivan, Anthony Carlton Jr., Nicko, Odica, Shequita, Maya, Kiya, Tahira and Deshawn. Twenty-eight great nieces and nephews. Cousins: Brenda, Joan, Gwenette, Jenny, Merlyne, Noel, Paula, Gillian, and Francine, Ulene, Chris, Mark, Eva and Ayodele. Megan and many others. Also left to mourn are her brothers-in-law and sister-in-law: Lloyd, Marilyn, Tony, Eustace and Lionel and her many friends especially Jackie, Pansy, Heather, Caroline, Hazel, Gillian, and Arlene. Pinky has left an indelible mark on our lives, and we will forever cherish the memories…
