Obituary

"A Celebration and Reflection of Life"To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die.  Ecclesiastes 3:1-2On November 7, 1955, in Leon County, Tallahassee, Florida, a handsome baby boy was born to Joe Louis Gilbert and Senetta Jean Roberts Gilbert. They named him Reginald Virgil Gilbert. While Reginald or "Reggie" as he was affectionately called, was born in Florida, he went to live with his grandfather Theo "Ned" Gilbert in Camilla, GA, as a little boy.  At the age of eight, Reginald relocated to Miami, Florida with his parents, and he called Miami "home" for the rest of his days.Growing up, Reginald attended Historic Mt. Zion in Overtown with his family and as an adult, he would often attend 93rd Street Community Church, with his sister.Reginald received his education through the Miami-Dade County Public School system and worked for many years as an Agricultural worker until he became ill.On Wednesday, in the early morning hours of September 11, 2024, Our Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus Christ called Reginald Virgil Gilbert from Labor to Reward. He victoriously labored through a lengthy illness and an extended stay at the Claridge House, since 2020, and had finally succumbed to his illness. Even so, we believe "to be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord; and therefore, Reginald has gone to his Heavenly Home.
