The journey of a righteous man is intricately guided by the divine, and such was the life of Roddy A. Evans, affectionately known as "Tim," spanning 77 years. Commencing on September 8, 1946, in New York, New York. Tim was a cherished creation of God, born to the late Robert Wade Evans Sr. and Madalina Garcia. Tim's early education unfolded in the classrooms of New York, but in 1958, his family relocated to Key West, Florida. Upon arriving in Key West, he continued his elementary school education by attending St. Francis Xavier and proudly graduated from Douglas High in 1964.Upon graduating from high school Tim's first introduction into the working world was at William Gamble Jewelry store in Key West. Later he began working for the U.S. Navy Commissary store also in Key West. Tim was an industrious worker determined to pursue a career. In 1967, he moved to Miami, Florida where he began his career as a Mail Handler for the United States Postal Service. He was a dedicated and devoted employee for 51 years from 1967 to December 1, 2018.The pinnacle of Tim's professional narrative was celebrated with a joyous Retirement Ceremony where family, friends, and co-workers gathered to honor his remarkable service. Tim, overwhelmed with love, declared, "I enjoyed every moment; it was fit for a king!
In matters of the heart, Tim's path intertwined with Gwendolyn in 1984, a relationship enduring a year before a brief parting. A decade later, in 1994, their paths reconverged, leading to a union on April 4, 1998. Tim and Gwen's love flourished, resulting in the birth of their son, Roddy Darami Evans. The bond between Tim and Gwen deepened over the years, and they were happily married for 26 years. Tim, a provider and a loving father to all three of his children, including his first-born son Roddy A. Evans Jr. and daughter Oneida L. Evans, embodied the profound journey of a man whose steps were guided by the divine order of the Lord.
Prayer was an integral part of Tim's daily life, serving as a cornerstone of his spiritual connection with God. Whether within the sacred walls of St. James Church or in the secret place of his home. Tim found solace and strength through sincere and heartfelt prayers. His commitment to a life of prayer reflected not only personal devotion but also a profound belief in the power of communication with the divine, adding depth to his spiritual journey. Tim's love for sports, particularly the Oakland Raiders, showcased his passionate loyalty to the team. Beyond sports, Tim exuded class, known for his elegant, sporty demeanor and appreciation for the finer things in life. His favorite dining spots, Ruth Chris and J. Alexander's, where he enjoyed a New York Strip or T-bone steak. These establishments, known for their upscale ambiance and delectable cuisine, were among Tim's preferred places to savor exceptional meals. In leisurely moments, Tim found joy in watching Westerns, immersing himself in timeless tales of the Old West. The iconic film "Scarface" captivated him so much that he made it a ritual, watching it almost 365 days a year. In the early moments of January 17, 2024, at 5:00 am, Tim transitioned peacefully at his home into the arms of Jesus. It was during this sacred hour that he sensed the divine embrace, with the comforting voice of Jesus.
