Obituary

A Time and Purpose of Ruth Allen Hines

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearance. 2 Timothy 4:7-8

On January 30, 1941, in Fort Valley, Georgia, God smiled upon His warm and kind-hearted creation, affectionately named "Ruth."  After spending time in Georgia with "Grandma Mary," the late Mary Harris Hollis, Ruth joined her loving parents in Miami, Florida, the late Eric Allen, Sr., and Mary Hollis Allen, who preceded her to glory.

Ruth attended Miami-Dade County Public Schools and worked with Marriott Industries for a number of years in charge of in-flight airline food service. In 1959, she met and later married her sweetheart, George "Sandy" Hines. Added to this union were four children, Pierre, Blondell, Donnell, and Levette. Fulfilling her purpose, Ruth decided to step away from the work environment and dedicate her time and efforts to raising their children, embracing her role as a homemaker, and caretaker for her family as well as others.

Ruth was unwavering in her efforts to help, feed, and aid others. She opened her home to family members and those in need of support. Her unconditional love was heartfelt in the lives she touched through her love for family. She was also known as "Ms. Ruth" to the community where she resided and was warmly respected for her loving kindness.

During life's journey, dearest loved ones preceded her to Glory, including her husband, George; sons, Pierre and Donnell Hines; her siblings, Glasco Sr., Willie James, and Leroy Allen; her sweet granddaughter, Shamena Hines, and her baby, Ronesa; and her grandson, Marcel Johnson. While they are gone but never forgotten, Ruth managed to maintain her purpose and continued to give back unselfishly, opening her heart in love and service to all who came to know her.

In her last few weeks and days before the Lord silenced her voice, Ruth sang and glorified the name of Jesus, saying, "I want to go home." The nursing staff was amazed as they listened to her rejoicing and declaring her love for God from her bed. She would constantly shout, "I Love You, Lord," and on Saturday afternoon, March 22, 2025, the Lord answered her request and welcomed her Home.
