Shantel Dixon Smith, affectionately known as "Muffy," was born on October 9, 1979, in Miami, Florida, to Patricia Dixon and Arnold Knight. As the youngest of three children, she was cherished by her family for her loving heart and feisty spirit.

At the tender age of seven, following the untimely passing of her mother, Shantel and her sister were raised with their aunt, Belinda Grimsley Butler.

Shantel attended Miami Edison Senior High School and later pursued her passion for cosmetology, earning her diploma from Beauty Schools of America. After receiving her license, she became a talented and highly sought-after hairstylist in Miami, earning the nickname "Muffy the Hair Slayer" for her creativity and skill.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Shantel had a passion for arts and crafts, often transforming thrift store finds into fashionable pieces. She possessed a special gift for connecting with young people, making everyone feel like family.

Shantel's personal life was marked by both joy and sorrow. She was a devoted wife to Tony Fleurimar and a loving mother to their son, Jakyri Fleurimar, who tragically preceded her in death. She later married Curtis Smith, and together they were blessed with two sons, Coy and Camryn, whom she adored alongside their beloved dog, Luna.

After the loss of her son, Shantel became an advocate for others who had experienced similar tragedies. She joined organizations such as "Florida Parents of Murdered Children", "Circle of Mothers," and "Dazzling Beyond Pink" offering support and raising awareness. Additionally, she spoke on Breast Cancer Awareness, emphasizing the need for more attention to Stage IV Breast Cancer.
