Obituary

"There are people that cross our lives in tiny fractions of time, in the briefest of encounters, and yet they leave an indelible mark in our hearts and our minds ". These words personify our beloved, Shirlene Denise Chery.

She was born in Miami, Florida on November 13, 1980, to Cherer and Marilyn Chery. Raised in Miami, Shirlene received her education through the Miami Dade County Public Schools. At an early age, Shirlene was characterized as a young woman with a great sense of humor, who was loving and had a heart for people, especially her family. Shirlene loved her family; she was their protector and always wanted the best for them.

Professionally, Shirlene worked in the fast-food industry for many years, and often held a managerial position. She was a woman after God's own heart, always demonstrating the spirit of kindness and genuine love. She loved unconditionally and would practically give her last.

Shirlene was a member of Bethel Apostolic Temple under the leadership of Pastor Carol Nash-Lester and later joined Missionary Evangelist Outreach Center Holiness Church Inc., under the Leadership of Apostle Johnny L. Kemp.

Shirlene never had children of her own, but she was the "auntie extraordinaire." She was crazy about her niece and nephews…and they were crazy about her. As much love she poured into others, she was blessed to share an unconditional love with her fiancé, Mr. Faubert Numa. The two were inseparable, shared a close bond and had dreams of sharing the rest of their lives together.

Today, as we remember Shirlene, we remember a family-oriented woman who put God first and her family next. She was kind, compassionate and took the time to call and or text family members daily just to see how they were doing and to express how much she appreciates and loved them.

On January 31, 2024, Shirlene Denise Chery departed this life. She was preceded in death by her only child, Yolanda Chery.

She leaves behind cherished memories to her loving parents, Cherer and Marilyn Chery; siblings: Hazine (Erline Dolce) Chery, Talise Chery, and Hattie (Ronnie) McFadden; uncles: Ben Allen, Jr., Pierre G. (Marie A) Chery, Schiller (Jeannette) Chery and Alexis (Reane) Anis and a host of loving niece and nephews, cousins, other relatives, and sorrowing friends.
