Vanessa
Lasenby
Mar 20, 1959 — Aug 22, 2025
Oh, what a beautiful morning, oh, what a beautiful, blessed day. I took my last breath, smiled my last smile, then looked into your eyes as if to say, Family, don't worry for me, because I am okay. The angels are here now to carry me in their arms to the gates of Heaven today.
Vanessa Lynette Rolle-Lasenby was born on March 20, 1959, to Bertha Cochran and the late Sergeant Richard Rolle. Vanessa was a happy child. She attended Jackson Toddler Inn Kindergarten and Charles Drew Elementary School. She graduated from Miami Edison Senior High School in 1976 with honors.
Vanessa was also a member of Jordan Grove MB Church, under the leadership of the late Rev. Douglas Cook, Sr. There, she served as the Sunday School secretary and a member of the youth usher board.
Vanessa attended Bethune-Cookman College in 1977 before joining the United States Air Force. While in the Air Force, Vanessa graduated from Louisiana Technical University with a degree in Psychology. In the military, Vanessa received numerous medals for good conduct and other Air Force commendations. She was also awarded many awards and military honors.
Vanessa met and married her military husband, the late Darryl Keith Lasenby, Sr. Vanessa and Darryl became loving parents to two sons, Darryl and William. She was a very loving, kind, and quiet mother, and her sons loved and adored her.
On Friday, August 22, 2025, God called his loyal servant home. We loved her very much, but God loved her more.
