Virginia
Lee
May 21, 1940 — Apr 25, 2026
"Make a Joyful Noise Unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before His presence with singing." Psalm 100:1-2
Virginia Wimberly Lee was born in Camilla, Georgia. She was educated in Camilla, and graduated from Consolidated High School.
From an early age, Virginia had a deep love for basketball and singing. Singing became a lifelong passion that she would later pursue. Virginia faithfully used her voice to praise the Lord.
At a young age, Virginia began singing alongside her sisters, Dollie and Willie Wimberly. Their voices brought joy to many neighbors and friends. They would often gather just to hear the three sisters sing.
After the passing of their mother, Virginia and her siblings were lovingly raised by their father, Joseph Wimberly. Together, as a family of six girls and five boys, they continued to sing praises unto the Lord. She sang with the Wimberly Sisters as the lead singer for 51 years.
In 1959, Virginia married the love of her life, Emmett Lee, and to this union, one daughter, Cynthis Lee, was born. They later welcomed a son, Kenneth Lee, into their lives.
Virginia leaves a legacy of life and love to her son, siblings, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Though Virginia's voice is no longer heard on this side, Heaven has gained a beautiful sound. Her life was a melody of faith. Her heart turned to worship, and her voice carried the message that "God was Everything We Need." We will miss her, but the melody of the message in her music will linger on forever.
