Walter L. Watson, affectionately known as "Mr. Charlie," was born on May 27, 1935, in Dawson, Georgia, to the late EC Watson and Bobbie Watson, and together they raised a large and loving family. Walter was one of eight children.

In 1957, Walter traveled from Georgia to Miami, Florida, seeking a better life, where he met Julie Mae Hayes, who, by coincidence, was staying at the same rooming house as him. The two fell in love. They married in 1958, and through this Union, two beautiful children were born.

Walter's spiritual walk was the cornerstone of his life.  At an early age, he gave his life to Christ. After moving to Miami, he joined the New Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as both a member, officer, trustee, and deacon for many years.

Before retiring, Walter worked as a Metro Bus driver for 30 years, retiring as a supervisor. He built a home from the ground up and was also a business entrepreneur, acquiring quite a few businesses in Miami and property in Tifton, Georgia.

Walter also served in the military, joined the Masonic fraternity, rising to the level of the 32˚ degree, and served as a Shriner with Kazah Temple #149.

He was well known for his generosity and leadership and was a person you would go to if you needed the answers to a question. He took immense pride in his family and friends, ensuring that they were always well cared for. He treasured the many relationships he built through his work in the community, church, and lodges.

Walter leaves cherished memories to his children, daughters-in-law, grandson, brother, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
