Willie Louis
Dixon
Aug 21, 1946 — Jul 6, 2024
The night was long, the streets were tough,
The job was hard, the work was rough.
A badge of honor, a heart of gold,
Through every shift, a story told.
His duty done, he clocks out late,
The city's calm, his mind debates.
The weight of service, the silent calls,
The courage faced within these walls.
He drives back home, the moon's soft glow,
A sense of peace begins to grow.
The front door creaks, a welcome sound,
In this safe haven, love is found.
He places down his badge with care,
The symbol of his nightly fare.
A uniform exchanged for ease,
The stress released, his worries cease.
Arms of warmth, a sweet embrace,
In loved ones' eyes, he finds his place.
The night's fatigue begins to fade,
In love's sweet refuge, he's unmade.
Through every shift, he gives his all,
But home is where he stands tall.
A hero's rest, in tender arms,
Protected now from all alarms.
The badge may rest, the night is done,
But in their hearts, he's number one.
In love's embrace, his strength renewed,
For every night, for all he's been through.
