Jr.
Jan 9, 1961 — Jun 18, 2024
MIAMI
Willie "Fuzzy" Pouncy, Jr., the son of the late Mr. Willie Pouncy, Sr. and Barbara J. Watson was born January 9, 1961, at King Memorial Hospital in Opa Locka, Florida. Fuzzy, as he was affectionately called, attended Nathan B. Young Elementary School, Westview Middle School, and graduated from North Miami Senior High School. After high school, Fuzzy joined the United States Marines to serve his country.Aside from being a Veteran, Fuzzy worked several jobs. His first job was at Tiny's Liquor Store in Opa Locka, where everyone loved to go get drinks to socialize under the tree or at the Corner Liquor Store. When you entered Tiny's store, Fuzzy was there laughing, joking with the customers and having a good time. Fuzzy also worked for Jackson Memorial Hospital where he was a Board Member of the Union Rep for AFSCME Florida Local 1363. He served 10 years as a Steward and Recording Secretary, Political Liaison and on the board with ALCIO organization. He was proud to advocate fairness in the workplace, safety on the job, fair wages, good benefits, a secure retirement, and excellence in public services. With empathy and understanding, Fuzzy worked with individuals to represent them because he loved supporting a good cause. Fuzzy was also very active in the Miami-Dade community. One of his favorite activities was coaching little league football for Opa Locka Optimist Club. He coached the Hurricanes Football Team and the Pirates Baseball Team in Sherbondy Park, both in Opa Locka, and won two Championships. His leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the youth of Opa Locka was a true testament to his passion to positively impact the lives of children. Throughout his life, Fuzzy always had a heart and passion for helping others. If you knew Fuzzy, you knew he was a die hard Dolphins fan. He was extremely proud to wear his Dolphin attire to represent them on game day. He never cared if they were the winning team or not - he just loved his Dolphins. Go Dolphins! There are so many good memories of Fuzzy, far too many to mention. We will certainly miss his presence. His memory and times we shared will forever linger in the hearts of those who knew him.
